|
|
I was wondering if anyone knows the size of the templates of what Rob used on the Top 20 Entries last year? I know the mechanical specfics that are posted in the guide, but what I want is the measurements of what he posted them online. RSoM6 online entires were a lot smaller, and my font was unreadable since I had not planned for the decrease. Can anyone help me? _________________

The mechanical specs are the same -- they're intended for print size, and not really for the web; so, while your entry might have looked fine in print, when it was resized for the internet, it became a problem. Next time, resize your pages to about the size of whatever is on manga online right now, (the size of a spread on MO's player is about 850px x 632px ), and make sure that your text is readable.
At that, this time, don't write so much. |

| Yeah. If you have so much text crammed in that it is too small to read when the pages are that size, that's a good sign there's too much text, or at least that the balloons you are using are too small for the text. |

| Standard print size is point 9 for most fonts with 9 kernel and leading. It's important you keep the kernal and leading at the same point as the font size (even though Illustrator, InDesign and Quark all make it "auto".) If you keep your points the same you'll fit in more text too. |

| It's called "kerning" and actually in InDesign (and in newest Photoshop, I think), I recommend setting kerning to "Optical" and setting tracking to "-10" or "-15" (yes, those are negative numbers) depending on the font. And as far as leading goes, we generally use a leading that is 0.5 or 1 pt larger than the particular font size you are using. For the font size, 8, 7.5, or 7 points may also be good, depending. Most text in GetBackers I know only gets above 8 pt if it's a shout or other momentous text, and it's usually more around 7 pt, but then again GetBackers has a whole lot of text per page. |

| Ah. I'm following Marvel/DC rules that another graphic designer told me. I can understand TP using smaller sizes because of the smaller pages. |
